The International Think Tanks and Civil Society Program of the University of Pennsylvania holds an annual global forum presenting the Global Leading Think Tanks Index.
This year, the global movement embraced almost 200 organizations in more than 100 cities around the world which simultaneously have organized events dedicated to the Think Tanks topic.
The conference of Economic Research Institute on "The Role of Think Tanks in Kazakhstan" was held in Astana today. Leading think tanks leaders, research institutes, consulting companies, public organizations, as well as a number of foreign think tanks took part in it.
Executive Director of the Center for Strategic Initiatives Yernar Zharkeshov spoke at the conference and presented analysis of think tanks' activities in Kazakhstan.
He noted that local think tanks are not so developed and do not have a recognized international image today.
Yernar Zharkeshov also conducted a survey of the world's think tanks having emphasized their growing standing and influence on the international agenda on the example of the Harvard Kennedy School.
Currently, the strongest players in the political, financial and economic fields make enormous use of analytical and consulting support possibilities.
CSI Executive Director pointed out that think tanks and consulting companies are not the same structure but they are equally independent, since impeccable reputation and the name of a long-term and strong partner are of great importance for these companies and their clients.
