Time for renewable energy is yet to come

Kazakhstan is already contributing to the development of a new model of the world economy and is ready to revisit the possibility
of an incremental switch to renewable energy.

The capacity of wind energy in Kazakhstan reaches 920 billion KWh/year, the capacity of hydropower technically possible for usage
is estimated to be 62 billion KWh, whereas the potential of solar power in the Southern parts of the country reaches 2500 – 3000 solar hours
a year.

These and other current development issues of energy industry of Kazakhstan and the world as a whole were discussed during the panel session titled "Future energy and the role of Kazakhstan in the world energy system" organized by the Center for Strategic Initiatives within
X Astana Economic Forum.
